About
The photographs of Swiss-based photographer Tobias Gärtner reflect an insatiable desire to connect with new people and places, and to bring their specific energies into focus. As comfortable photographing in a frigid landscape as on a chaotic street, Gärtner has a compelling ability to capture both silence and noise---often in the same image. With a sharp eye for detail, his pictures embrace decay, complex geometries, subtle winds, and impossibly vast vistas. He has a specific interest in straying from the beaten touristic path-- meeting people where they live and work. Gärtner’s photographs catalogue a life lived through travel and fueled by openness and curiosity. He lives in Zurich, Switzerland.
